Makapuu Point

Last weekend when we were out and about, the kids wanted to go see if we can spot any Humpback whales. The winter is whale season here. So we took them to a spot that whales are known to hang out. (Of course I had 1 set of binoculars) Little did we know that we would be taking a 2 1/2 mile trail going up on the side of a mountain. I was so not prepared for it. We had 2 , 1/2 bottles of water and I had flip flops on. Big William kept saying we are half way up, we might as well finish it. The kids and I were fine sitting where we were to whale watch. But of course Dad won out and we hiked all the way up. I guess it is about 647 feet above the ocean. The hike was very hot and steep at times, but there was a nice view at the top, along with a top view of the lighthouse.

All of us at the top of the trail, we finally made it.
We stopped at this one landing area and sat and watched the whales. I got a couple of shots of a baby whale. We could see several whales out in the water because of the water that comes out of the top as they go under. A few times a big whale would breah and you could hear the splash from up where we were.

I,m glad you got to see some whales after all of that. When we were on Molokai we saw lots right from the beach. We also took a boat and went out and that was amazing. We were surrounded, those things are really big. I have decided i want to move to Hawaii(in my dreams).
