Valley of the Temples Memorial Park

Another adventure day for the Filler's. We took a trip to the other side of the island to check this place out. Patrick wanted to stay home and not go, but by the time we left, he was glad that we made him join us!!!! The first picture is of the Byodo-in Temple. It is a scaled replica of a temple at Uji Japan. It was built in 1968 and it was built without the use of nails.

Inside the temple: The Budda made by Masuzo Inui.

Now for what the kids thought was the best thing ever. In the gift shop, William was talking to the check out lady. He mentioned that he was in the Navy. She hands him this bag of food to feed to the poi fish and the birds. She tells Patrick to put some in his hand and hold it out and whistle and some of the birds will come right to your hand. So we tried it. Oh yea she gave me two bags of it. Also while at the store, Patrick wanted this thing they called a money frog, so I got it for him. He couldn't wait to see what money it would bring him. F.Y.I. while walking out to the car he finds a coin on the ground and thought his frog was already bringing him luck.

Now for some extras! The Bell house, (picture below) contains a 5 foot high, 3 ton brass bell , called bon-sho (sacred bell) Patrick and William gave it a try and it was a success. the sounds a message of deep calm and peace, cleansing the mind of evil and temptation.
